Who's Really Making Money From GTA 6? The Numbers So Far
GTA 6 isn't out until November 19, 2026, and nobody outside Rockstar has played it. Yet the money around it is already enormous. Take-Two is forecasting more than USD 8 billion in a single financial year, a major record label is releasing a 34-track album, and a whole industry of creators, news sites and guide makers has grown up around the wait.
So who is actually making millions from GTA 6? The verified money so far belongs to companies, not individuals. Some numbers are public, and a lot of what you'll read online is guesswork. This article separates the two, so you can see where the real GTA 6 economy is, and where "millions" is just a nice-sounding claim.

Take-Two and Rockstar: the clearest numbers
The USD 8 billion forecast
Take-Two, Rockstar's parent company, expects USD 8.0 to 8.2 billion in net bookings for its 2027 fiscal year, which runs from April 2026 to March 2027 and includes GTA 6's launch. It reiterated that outlook in its August 7, 2026 results, with CEO Strauss Zelnick pointing to "excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI." Net bookings measure the value of what players buy in a period, so it's a sales figure, not profit, and it covers all of Take-Two's games.
For the April to June 2026 quarter, when GTA 6 pre-orders opened, Take-Two reported USD 1.39 billion in net bookings. It hasn't published GTA 6 pre-order numbers.
Editions, merch and the USD 399.99 collector's box
Take-Two confirmed the game's prices in June 2026, alongside the November 19 release date:
| Product | Price | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| GTA 6 Standard Edition | USD 79.99 | The game |
| GTA 6 Ultimate Edition | USD 99.99 | The game plus exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits, shops and extra content |
| The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection | USD 399.99 | An 11-item collector's box sold on Rockstar's store. The game is not included |
Rockstar also sells GTA VI apparel and collectibles on its own store, and anyone who buys the game before November 20 gets a bonus, the Vintage Vice City Pack.
What analysts expect (and why to be careful)
You'll see predictions of several billion dollars in GTA 6's first week or first year. These are analyst estimates, not company figures, and they vary widely. Take-Two's own guidance is the most reliable number available until real sales are reported.
The music business
GTA has always been a powerful platform for music, and GTA 6 is turning that into a product of its own. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album is a partnership between Rockstar and Atlantic Records with 34 original tracks, coming on streaming, CD and vinyl on November 19. Singles from artists including Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, Cardi B and Rauw Alejandro are already out, and Justice is composing the game's original score.
There's a second music economy too. Older songs placed in trailers, radio previews and, eventually, the in-game stations get exposure to a huge new audience. We track every song in our GTA 6 soundtrack guide, and the stations themselves in our look at the six radio stations revealed so far. Neither Rockstar nor the labels have published what any artist earns from GTA 6.
Platforms, retailers and streaming partners
- Retailers sell the editions, and the album is getting exclusive vinyl colourways at shops including Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Target, Barnes & Noble and Urban Outfitters.
- PlayStation: Bloomberg reported in May 2026 that Sony has a marketing deal for GTA 6, based in part on comments from Take-Two's CEO. Neither Sony nor Rockstar has announced the terms.
- Netflix hosted the exclusive first premiere of GTA 6: An Extended Look on August 27, 2026, before it moved to Rockstar's channels. The financial side of that arrangement hasn't been disclosed.
The common thread: these companies get attention, sales or subscribers from the launch, but the size of any deal is private.
Creators and streamers
GTA 6 is one of the biggest audience magnets online. Rockstar's first trailer drew more than 90 million YouTube views in 24 hours in December 2023 and set three Guinness World Records, including the most-viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours.
That attention flows to creators. Reaction videos, trailer breakdowns, theory channels and "everything we know" streams have built big audiences. Some creators have gone further: French YouTuber CyrilMP4 flew to Miami to recreate trailer shots in the real-life version of Vice City. In September 2026, creators including TmarTn, TheRadBrad and xQc showed off GTA VI-branded packages that arrived from Rockstar, a sign of how much the publisher values creator coverage.
What you won't usually find is reliable earnings data. YouTube and Twitch income depends on ad rates, sponsorships and memberships, and creators rarely publish GTA-specific figures. Big view counts don't automatically mean millions in income.
News, guide and fan sites
Every big game creates search demand: release dates, trailer explanations, mission walkthroughs, cheats and 100% checklists. That demand supports news sites, wikis, map tools and guide businesses, many of them independent.
MissionPassed is one example of the kind of independent GTA 6 guide being built around that demand. The GTA 6 Story Guide is a paid, one-time-purchase walkthrough that's being written after release, mission by mission. Right now it's pre-launch: walkthroughs aren't available yet, the first mission guide will be free, and details are in our FAQ. We're not publishing traffic or revenue figures, and you should be sceptical of any guide site claiming big numbers before the game is even out.
Before launch, the useful thing a guide site can do is be accurate. That's why our GTA 6 cheats page lists no cheats yet, and our GTA 6 100% completion guide separates what's confirmed from what isn't.
Roleplay, mods and user-made content
GTA V's roleplay scene showed how much value players can create on top of a Rockstar game. In August 2023, Rockstar acquired Cfx.re, the team behind the FiveM and RedM roleplay platforms, bringing that community in-house.
Whether GTA 6 will let creators earn money from custom content is not confirmed. Some industry figures, including a former Rockstar developer, have predicted it, and others have claimed user-generated content could create "millionaires". Until Rockstar announces plans for GTA 6 Online or creator tools, treat those claims as speculation.
Investors
Take-Two's share price is closely tied to GTA 6 news. Release-date changes, earnings guidance and trailer drops have all moved the stock in both directions. When Take-Two first issued its USD 8.0–8.2 billion outlook in May 2026, its shares fell more than 4% the next day, because Wall Street had expected around USD 9.1 billion. Owning shares is a bet on future results, not guaranteed profit, and nothing here is investment advice.
The other side: scams and knock-offs
Where there's hype, there are people trying to cash in dishonestly. Be wary of:
- "Early access" or "beta" keys, which Rockstar hasn't offered
- Fake pre-order sites. Buy only from Rockstar, the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store or major retailers
- Unofficial merch using Rockstar's logos and artwork
- Cheat codes for a game that isn't out yet
So, who is actually making millions?
The verifiable answer is the companies: Take-Two's forecast puts GTA 6 at the centre of a USD 8 billion year, Rockstar is selling a USD 399.99 collector's box, and Atlantic Records is releasing a full album. Big partners like Netflix, PlayStation and retailers are clearly benefiting, though their deals are private.
For individuals, the picture is murkier. Plenty of creators and sites are building audiences around GTA 6, but very few publish their earnings, and "made millions" claims usually have no evidence behind them. The real money may only show up after GTA 6's November 19 launch, when players arrive and need help. We'll update this article with real sales figures as they're announced.
